Kathy Aoki presented twenty works on paper at the Janet Turner Print Museum at California State University, Chico. To prepare for the show, Aoki created thirteen new pieces, including the interactive installation entitled “Makeup Myriorama,” at various printmaking studios throughout the San Francisco Bay Area: Santa Clara University, Gruenwald Press, and Smith Andersen Editions.
Exhibition background: In February 2014, Juror Anne Collins-Goodyear, co-director of the Bowdoin Museum and former associate curator of prints and drawings at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery, selected Kathy Aoki for the grand prize solo exhibition. The award was part of the juried exhibition “Pushing Boundaries|Expanding Horizons: 10th National Janet Turner Print Competition and Exhibition.”
