Hello Kitty Monument: Large Works (2016 – 2018)

These images are from the #WishYouWereHere solo show at the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art (2018 ) and the Formidable Fragments solo exhibition at the Berkeley Art Center in 2016.

I created Hello Kitty Monument in response to the mind boggling, worldwide popularity of the Hello Kitty brand. Through the invention of a Mount Rushmore-type monument and ersatz historical documentation, I address cute consumer culture, museum sponsorship, and even high-tech housing markets.
